N.B. The French and Spanish versions of this message will follow at a later date Dear Forum participants: The themes of this Forum not only correspond to the themes of AMARC 7 but also to those of the next InteRadio. Given the many active and knowledgeable participants in this Virtual Forum, I am launching a call for articles to this list. I encourage you to contribute to InteRadio as at least one concrete way of promoting the right to communicate. Talk to you soon. Elvira INTERADIO SEEKS WRITERS ON "COMMUNICATION AND HUMAN RIGHTS" AMARC 7 SPECIAL ISSUE As many of you already know, AMARC’s 7th World Congress is taking place in Milano, Italy on August 23-29, 1998. The "Communication and Human Rights" theme of the congress will also be taken up in the next issue of InteRadio, the bi-annual magazine of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC). Conference topics include: women in community radio, reinforcing the right to communicate, media and cultural diversity, access to new communication technologies, community media prospects in the Mediterranean. The goal of the next issue is to cover feature articles on some of these topics in addition to providing slices of AMARC 7: who was there, what did they say, what strategic alliances were built or reinforced, what political impact will this have in the international communications arena? etc. Aside from soliciting conference participants, I am making a general call for articles to give those who are/were not able to attend AMARC 7 the opportunity to contribute. The editorial menu is outlined below. Please let me know which topic you are interested in writing about and feel free to make additional suggestions. As usual, articles can be written in English, French, or Spanish. They should be 700 words in length and submitted by October 5. For more information, contact me at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you. Oh yes, and if you would like to inquire on how to receive a copy of InteRadio (by subscription or membership to AMARC), please contact the International Secretariat c/o Marie-Line at [email protected], or refer to the phone and fax numbers listed at the bottom of this message.
